Open Question: how to make a friend?

see this girl in my dance class named jamie is new to our class but used to be in another class. she made a friend sydney and everybody friends with everybody else except for me!!!!!! and when i talk to her she sounds nervous or sounds like leave me alone!!! do i just walk right up to her and say do you wanna be friends? or talk to her about gymnastics since we're both really good @ doing it, but if she likes the kind of gymnastics i do which is bars,beam,etc.??????????
