Open Question: Olympics question?

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:15 am by Yahoo! Answers: Search for

Is olympic competition only for humans? If they could teach an ape to do gymnastics, diving, etc. will it be able to compete with humans? I think it would be too dangerous for big cats to do racing events though. Same with letting a big python participate in a wresling competition. But I think a kangaroo would be OK to participate in boxing. They have different size kangaroos, so weight division issue would not be a problem.

While the “official” rules of the 2008 Bejing Games use the words “men”, “women”, and “individuals” it does not specifically say human. The actual definitions of man and woman are human male and human female. The definition of the word individual does not specify human. That being said, and the fact that I am actually considering, and over-analyzing this question, I would have to say that the Olympics are reserved for human beings. Also consider that “individuals” need to qualify and be a member in good standing in their respective country’s organizations. If someone wants to dissect the rules of every country’s qualifications, feel free. This might be a good concept for a reality TV show, however. Anyone want to watch Nastia vs. a chimp? I don’t think so.
